ClearWater Marina Management Systems

ClearWaterMMS FAQ

How quick is it to process a customer's request to moor at the marina?

This depends on the volume of data you need to capture, the experience of your staff, the customer's needs and what level of customer service you wish to apply. We believe the whole process is quick but when under pressure during an International Regatta or Waterways Festival that may not always be the case. The facility to book in advance helps and once data is secured on the system it is captured for ever. After that the search facilities are extensive, simple and fast.

Can I process advanced bookings?

Yes. ClearWaterMMS has a time capability which allows it to review the past and to work in the present and the future. There are many areas such as the reporting section, renewal section and marina maps where you can generate reports, letters and invoices for the future and establish what the berth occupancy is going to be.

Can invoices be raised in a pro-forma format?

All invoices can be raised as pro-formas and converted to full invoices by clicking a confirmation button. It's as easy as that.

Does ClearWaterMMS have the facility to carry out bulk mailings?

One of the key features of ClearWaterMMS is its ability to make the day-to-day operations more efficient. The annual renewals process, electricity invoicing and production of standard letters such as debt recovery procedures all feature bulk paperwork generation. The extent of these procedures can be customized when the system is installed. Using an ODBC connection to specialist tools such as Microsoft Access increases the range of possibilities.

Can Boats be moved around on the marina map?

No. To move a boat from one berth to another you need to use the built-in facility on the main screen. To ensure that a berth is not double-booked, the system asks for the dates when the new berth is required and then offers the operator a selectable list of available moorings for those dates.

To allow the system to have an up-to-date availability list, boats which leave the marina for weekends etc, can be placed on virtual berths.

What makes ClearWaterMMS better than other marina management systems?

ClearWaterMMS is an intuitive system with a front-end interface using Microsoft Windows standards. It contains all the important information on one screen and all the other data and procedures are only a click away. The back-end of the system is built around a standard SQL database which allows ClearWaterMMS to have greater flexibility when modifying the system to meet individual clients' requirements.

Being a complete management and administration system, ClearWaterMMS allows the user to offer excellent levels of customer service whilst meeting the company's demands to maximize income from its facilities. The built-in sales and debt control facilities allow the business financials to be controlled and all the data can be interrogated for decision making and strategic planning.

Being the developer of the ClearWater software the company is able to provide unparalleled levels of support and to easily customize the software to meet individual clients' requirements.

How difficult is it to customize ClearWaterMMS to suit our requirements?

Previous experience has shown that nothing is too difficult. With the depth of experienced gained with looking at different marina procedures we can often suggest new ways of doing things which may negate the need for customization and save you money.

Can ClearWaterMMS be networked?

ClearWaterMMS can be used on both LANs and WANs.

What support can you offer overseas clients?

We are committed to providing a quality product and service. This starts at the initial contact stage where we ensure that we understand our client's requirements thoroughly and implement a system to the highest standards. This helps to reduce the need for support. However, if needed, we offer support by all modern communication methods and the extent of this support can be agreed upon when setting up a contract.

How do your support contracts work?

In general our support contracts are annual contracts.

What facilities do you have for boat lifting and storage operations?

Although no such procedures are laid down in ClearWaterMMS, we have adapted the system to use virtual berths and waiting lists to control boat lifting. ClearWaterMMS can be set up to accommodate all forms of berthing arrangements. These include linear moorings, rafting, swinging moorings and Med moorings. They can also be adapted to provide areas which are ideal for hardstanding. The use of the boat movement features, as described above, enables vessels to be easily moved from their moorings and placed on hardstanding.

What research and development is taking place at present?

No two marinas are the same. The design, environment, type of boats and customers are just many of the factors that differentiate one marina from another. For this reason we keep ourselves busy continually developing and modifying the product. This does not mean we are constantly changing the product but it enables us to quickly respond to features that we have come across in the past or be able to think a new solution through logically. At ClearWater Marina Management Systems R&D is a fundamental part of our business.
